Yes, we use a Britta water jug for Ricky's drinking water and food preparation. It definitely helped but didn't eliminate it entirely. Today, we use the Britta and wash his face daily, especially around the tear ducts. Eye staining is pretty much a non-issue for us now. We notice a bit of it, but you would never notice.

Be aware that different things work for different dogs. Because filtered water works for us does not mean that it will work for you.

Watson, my black and white boy, has only had filtered water. He gets tear and beard staining. I don't know if it would be worse without the filtered water or not.

Do you have any recent photos of Watson? Would love to see him.

Here he is playing with Lola at daycare a couple days ago. If you look closely, you can see the deeper, reddish tear staining on the black coloring around his eyes. If it were white, you'd really see it. He's also always had a bit of beard staining. I started with the Proviable DC probiotic others have had some luck with, but haven't seen any results after a month. `

It has taken about 4 months, I think, but I FINALLY am seeing a change in Panda's staining. Now, whether it's really the Proviable DC or whether it's just growing up, I can't tell you for sure. But it's cheap enough that I'm keeping her on it!

Watson is adorable. Rudy has been on Proviable DC probiotics since October and I haven't noticed any changes in the tear stains. He will be 2 years old the end of May.

Leo and Rex have always been on filtered water. It made no difference with eye or beard stains. Proviable D.C. has been like a magic pill for us.

How long did it take before you noticed an improvement with the Proviable DC? Did you go through a whole box before you started seeing a difference? We have about 21 pills left and no change. I just started this evening to give Rudy only filtered water.
