Makes Me Wonder...

Here's why I'm a bit suspicious of those videos of "poor, neglected, abandoned" small, long haired dogs. This is Panda's butt after a 45 minute walk on the SIDE WALK today. The second photo is what I had to comb out of her before I could put her in the sink to wash out the rest. This doesn't count everything she had already shed on the kitchen floor, before I could get her out on the deck to comb the rest out. The last photo is what she looked like when she headed out on the walk.
Can you INAGINE what this groom-daily, washed at least once a week show dog would look like if she, somehow, got loose and was running scared for a week? My guess is she's look a lot like those "rescue" videos. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that people take the time to catch these poor scared dogs and shave them (really, the only thing that can be done when a coat gets that bad) But I am not at ALL sure that this is a sign of neglect or abuse... Only that it's a sign of a poor lost dog.

And she really WASN'T doing anything other than walking with the others... She's just short, and her hair is closer to the ground, I guess. I keep Kodi's feat trimmed a little closer in the winter, but I can't do that with her or it would spoil her for the ring. Can't do ANYTHING about that fluffy butt!!!

Ricky hates it when he gets debris caught in his tail feathers on our walkies. He will stop, lay down, turn himself into a pretzel, and preen himself with his mouth until clean, before he will move again. Of course, I help him out with the removal.

The pictures are the best part of your post. We all love pictures! Such a gorgeous Havadolly!

I know how that goes for sure. Whimsy picks up leaves just walking on the deck. Panda is such a doll.

If Molly got that much stuff stuck in her fur she would be a basket case! If she gets the tiniest thing stuck to her she stops dead in her tracks and drops to the ground and tries to get it out, just like Ricky. I either have to get it out for her or if it is too much stuff, or too tangled, I have to pick her up and carry her inside to deal with it. Oh, the life of a delicate princess!!

Haha- my Lil Girly doesn't mind getting them stuck, that is the fun part- it's the taking them out that makes her a basket case!
Dry redwood tree leaves are THE WORST in this neck of the woods!
These things are like superglue and just love attaching themselves to her fuzzy butt!!

Hehehe I know that look We have recently, of course, traded leaves for snowballs. Wondering what spring might bring (absolutely nothing would be ideal). Once let Nino out to pee on the side of the road on the way to a show, and the place we stopped was deceptive. Looked clean, but when I picked him up, his undercarriage was all grass and burs. I about lost it. Fortunately, as he dried off (it was dewy, too) they fell off for the most part and he went on to win BOBOH and BPIG...though I did find a couple stragglers on the way home

The 5 Havs living with Nino's breeder are usually referred to as her "short dogs" (as opposed to Ireland, the tall Golden), but there are certain days where the "short dogs" become "pound puppies". She isn't one to deny her herd fun, so the full coated bunch isn't always the most glamorous

That's what Kodi does too, Ricky... He can't STAND leaves between his legs!!! The problem is, he doesn't seem to understand that when he sits down to remove them, it just makes matters worse! I really DO try to help him when I see he's having trouble!!! Panda, however, couldn't care less. She says, "Forget those "Roomba" Havanese! _I_ want to grow up to be a street sweeper!"

Yup! Kodi too! Panda doesn't care, and Pixel's hair is short enough that she rarely has a problem!
