Island Girl

We are in St. Croix and Chi-Chi is loving it much more than the 20 degrees Chicago weather. There are 5 dogs living on the property where we are staying and one of them, a rescue has become Chi Chi's constant companion. Someday I will learn to post pics that are not sideways

So jealous! Looks like a heavenly place to be to escape the cold weather. So glad Chi Chi has a friend there too!

Love the pictures, but now I need to go to the chiropractor to get this crick in my neck fixed.

Did you have any issues with getting ChiChi into St. Croix? What kind of papers did you need? How many hours with the plane trip and how did she handle it? What was the cost to take ChiChi on the plane?. The airlines I have checked usually charge $50 to take a dog as a "carry on" under the seat.

I'd love to find one that charged $50. I think I paid $100 for Kodi 7 years ago, and $150 for Pixel 2 years ago!

Chi Chi you lucky little girl. Karen Westjet (Canadian Airline) charges $50.00. I don't know if they fly within the U.S. they certainly fly to the U.S. and the Carribean from Canada.

Here are the domestic pet fees for in-cabin travel for the largest airlines in North America:

American, Delta, United, & US Airways have a pet fee of $125 each way, on flights within the United States, Canada, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico

Aeromexico has a pet fee of $145 each way

Spirit has a pet fee of $110 each way

Air Canada has a pet fee of $105 each way

Alaska, Allegiant, JetBlue, & Virgin America have a pet fee of $100 each way

Southwest has a pet fee of $95 each way

Frontier has a pet fee of $75 each way

Note that some airlines charge more for checked pets than in-cabin travel, and some airlines do NOT allow checked pets at all (e.g. Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, US Airways, Virgin America).

Last year when I checked with Alaska Airlines and American Airlines, they wanted $50 for one way LAX (Los Angeles) to SJD (Cabo San Lucas) 2:15 hour flight. I guess their fees have gone up since then. Well, that makes sense, the price of fuel is down so that means prices go up!
