USDA removes animal welfare reports from website.

Here is a disturbing report that just came out on the news today: USDA removes animal welfare reports from its website | Political News | US News It is unclear at this time who has ordered this action, but whoever did it, I am pi$$ed! Supposedly, this was done to protect the privacy of those who have been accused of animal abuse! What The Fools, what about the abused animals?!

"What the USDA has done is given cover to people who neglect or harm animals and get cited by USDA inspectors," said John Goodwin, who runs the Stop Puppy Mills Campaign at The Humane Society of the United States. "The public is no longer going to know which commercial dog breeders, horse trainers, which zoos, which research labs have horrible animal welfare track records."

It is time for a dog owners and their pooches March on Washington!

You know what's wrong with the political systems of the world.....they are run by politicians. When are things going to start getting done by people with common sense. It is a scarce commodity nowadays.

It has been reported today that the current administration is trying to blame the previous administration for scrubbing the animal welfare reports from the USDA website. WRONG! Not true. The previous administration had the OPTION to scrub these reports from the USDA website but chose not to do that, according to the USDA. The current administration is lying when they say that. The current administration directed that these reports should be removed from the website, according to the USDA.

I am perplexed that there is not more outrage on HF about this condoning of hiding animal abuse. Where is our humanity if we are going allow abuse of defenseless animals? I am discouraged that more people on this Forum have not spoken up in opposition to this directive.

Call this political rant if you must but I am willing to be banned from this Forum if it means that I can't speak out in the General Discussion against the abuse of animals by anyone. Hiding the abuse of animals SHOULD NOT BE A POLITICAL ISSUE!!!!!! If this is the way we Make America Great Again, by hiding the abuse of animals, I don't want to be part of it.

SHAME!

What is the best way for us to express our outrage on this decision? Who can we write or petition? We cannot just sit back and let it happen. Being proactive is the way to go. Ricky's Dad: can you do some research on this?

Contact both your Senators and your Representative and the President. Let them know that you will keep their response to this issue in mind when they come up for election. Keep the pressure on them. The President already has a record of rescinding orders if given enough push back from the public.

If we don't speak up for defenseless animals, who will? Where is our morality and compassion? Disgusting!

The Secretary of Agriculture is Michael Young from the PREVIOUS administration. The current administration has ordered a brief halt to external communications until the new administration gets their depts. organized with a chance to review grants, etc. This happens in all administrations including the previous one. From the New York Times Jan 25: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/25/u...s-in.html?_r=0

It bears watching but I wouldn't panic yet.
