Capote (& Mindy's) Ruff Night

well...capote had a bad night last night. He never poops in his crate, but last night was an acception. We've been fighting off diarreah all day yesterday...no clue why. He's eating the same stuff he's eaten since I've had him and I didn't change anything up yesterday.

I woke up at 4 to the worst smell..ever. (his crate is right next to my bed) ..and discovered him next to a pile of poo. Before I could get out of bed he'd already put 3 paws in it in his excitement that I was getting him out. So I had to wash off his feet (yae 4 am foot baths) and stick his bedding in the washing machine. He NEVER goes to the bathroom in his crate..he's done it ONCE since I've had him and it was just after I set up his crate and he wasn't used to it yet.

Well..once he was all washed up and I put in a blanket to substitute for his dirty bedding, we went back to bed. 2 hours later, after he was walking around all night (his nails were driving me crazy on the bottom of the crate) I thought I smelled the nastiness again..but when I looked down and didn't see anything.

Well..he hid it under the blanket. Cause when I took him out this morning, I came back to clean out his bed and it went 'plop' ..right onto my carpeting.

Lemme tell ya. I feel rather dirty right now.

I'm gonna keep an eye on his stool for today..if it's still loose we're going to the vet.. I haven't changed his diet..he doesn't have much of a reason for it to be loose.. Though I may have just put a wee too much water in with his kibble..

Poor baby!
Like people, sometimes dogs just get sick or get an upset stomach. I hope this is a very short-lived situation for all of your sakes.

I can relate to how you feel - hang in there. The was a time when Oreo had a bout like that when he was about 4 or 5 months old. It was tough and I lost a lot of sleep, but it got so much better. Oreo went through a sensitive tummy stage - or could have been the doggie flu, since his reaction started 1 day after his rabies vaccination.

Give capote the rice and boiled chicken mixture to firm up his tummy and give it a bit of a break. Little Capote should be his regular self in no time ( no pun intended)

Yucky! When we first got Dora we had the issues with getting her stomach settled with a better food! I know exactly how gross you feel!

I am sure those puppy kisses make up for all the mess you have had to clean and you might want to try some plain rice until his stomach settles!

Poor little fellow, you can give him some oatmeal, that might help give his stool some substance and it is easy to digest...you can try rice too, but it is not as easily digested...Good Luck

Shelby will alternate with firm stools and then loose stools. Vet said it could be a little case of colitis (just like me). He gave me some meds, Flagyl I think it is, and that seems to help her out. I have had 4 stool tests done and they are all negative. I guess she is just sensitive and she is always eating things she shouldn't.

Hope Capote is feeling better soon.
