Weird habits

My two Havanese that I found on the streets have a really weird habit. When I put their kibble in the bowl they will bump the bowl with their noses constantly until they make a big mess. It's really annoying because usually their cage is covered in spilled kibble. I wonder if they got fed directly on the floor or is this some weird Havanese habit I don't know about?
Do your dogs have any strange things they do?

Are they perhaps trying to bury it? Willow, when she was fed kibble, would use her nose and kind of dip her head and make pushing motions as if she were trying to bury it. I use a stand for her food bowl but have put the bowl on the floor in the past. She would take her toys that were scattered about and use her now to push her toys on top of the bowl to bury the kibble. My corgi also used her nose to bury things. Once we came across a dead fish washed up on the shore and she used her nose to push sand over the fish.

So when you say they are bumping the bowl, I'm wondering if they are actually "burying" the bowl.

I don't think it's a "Havanese trait"... None of mine do it... They scarf down their food as quickly as possible!!!

Yes, that's exactly it! Thinking back to when we spent time at our cabin in Central Florida they did that when they were tied outside.
