New food and the RUNS

So, I started trying to transition my dogs from their current food to Taste of the Wild Pacific stream. Well, I have been mixing a little bit of the new food with their current food every day. They love the food. Apparently so far, it doesn't like Izzo. He woke up this morning with poop all in his cage on on him. I bathed him and just a few minutes ago he had the RUNS all over the kitchen and I sent him outside. Now, he needs ANOTHER bath. Uggh. I hate switching food. Should I just go back to their old foods?

I think it's normal for them to get a little upset tummy when switching food, but the way you are describing Izzo's problem, it sounds a little extreme. Like that would be a little too much upset tummy. I imagine you are transitioning real slow. It may just be that his system is a little too sensitive to that much fish. You may have to try something a little less rich for him. I know switching foods can be a real pain.

jenn, izzy,fergus and harry too!

I know each dog is different... but TOTW Pacific Stream gave Lola the runs too. I talked to my vet about it when I was trying to decide what to feed her and he thought it was a pretty rich food. She was still pretty young though, so her tummy was prob more sensitive then than it is now. Salmon is a pretty rich and oily fish, so I could see how it would upset a dogs tummy.

Why are you switching foods? Is he not doing well on his current food or is there another reason? If he's ok with his current food you could switch to a different brand but with similar ingredients. I went through 4 different foods before finding one that Lola liked and gave her good, hard poops. We hardly have any cling-on issues now so when we do I know its not from her food. Phew!

Poor Izzo. Well, poor Nicole too b/c you're the one who has to clean it up
