crate size, style

I have plenty of time to get a crate but I research everything to death. I have several cat carriers 22l x 13w x 12h. They are plastic with wire top and front doors. Is that a suitable size for a 10 week old puppy? I know I will have to get a larger one at some point. I plan on keeping it next to my bed at night so I can reach through the wire for reassurance if necessary. I'm looking at a midwest wire one (24 x 18 x 21) I see that I can purchase a cover for it. It also has a divider. We have a shore house so I will be taking a crate with me. Trying to decide if I should get one for home and one for there. Or get a plastic one but I read it's better to have a soft crate for travel. And is it better to crate dog while travelling or is a seat belt harness ok? Not sure if that's the best idea for a puppy though. Thanks

Yes, your cat crate will be fine for when you first bring the puppy home. For my adult dogs, I like the next size up for Mid-west crates in our RV, so that they can really stretch out at night. I use that same size plastic crate for them at home.

Either a soft-sided crate or a well-designed crate specifically for travel, like a Ruff Tough Kennel or Impact dog crates, who are having a sale right now!: https://www.impactdogcrates.com/pages/about-us

Better than nothing, but not as good as the above options for the car would be a plastic crate like a sari-kennel or petmate.
There are a FEW car harnesses that will protect the occupants of the car from a loose dog... I do not believe they provide adequate protection for the dog, when it comes to spinal injuries. Still, ANY restraint is better than none.

Who are you addressing? I use different crates in different applications, and there are different sizes!

I got MidWest Ultima Pro Double Door Dog Crate 24 inch. I used the divider when she was small. My dog is 6.5 pounds now.
