Seresto flea and tick collar? Opinions?

Is anyone using this on their dog? Does anyone have any experience - good or bad - with it? Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't use them. I use Advantix II as needed. My son uses the Surest collars on his big hound dog, but Chipper is out in brush and long grass on a daily basis with Robbie, as he goes to work with him. (Robbie is an arborist) Robbie comes home with ticks pretty often, and without the collar, Chipper had ticks on him almost daily... Sometimes several. I think that if you are in a highly tick infested area, and you have a big dog who is outside all the time, they may be the lesser of two evils. i think that for most of us with Havanese, there are better options.

I have listened to all the opinions... but after pulling a tick out just a few weeks ago, I decided that it would be far worse for my dog to deal with a tick borne disease. Some of the diseases can be transmitted much quicker from the bite than lyme disease. I now put the collar on just for walks on the rail trail and take it off as soon as we are back inside. I have it for outside use only. So far no tick bites and no bad reactions.

Well, from what I've read, the Seresto collar needs to remain on the dog all the time to be effective. Also, even with a Seresto collar, the tick must bite before it is killed. As far as I know, the only flea/tick preventative that includes a REPELLENT is Advantix II. That exactly why I use it. Even without the threat of disease, Kodi has a horrible reaction to tick bites. I need to prevent the tick bites themselves, not just the transmission of disease.

Yes, I agree that dog flea collars are used as a preventative tool in the fight against fleas and ticks. These collars can be a very valuable tool, especially for pets spending most of their time outdoors.
But, sometimes they are not appropriate for every pet in every situation. I think they are not the best form of protection. Last month, when my dog was infested by ticks I had used tick collar, but, apart from the tick collar I had also preferred to use pesticide treatments and it had suspected a tick infestation, by calling a tick exterminator Hamden CT professionals, where they had used pesticides which were only harmful to the ticks but not for my dog. I think using pesticides can be beneficial for those people who stay with their dogs in areas of highly parasite challenge.
