Update on Coconut Oil

So I thought I would let you know how it is going with the coconut oil being added to my boys diet. For the first two weeks I gave them both 1/8 tsp at suppertime. They both love it, I don't have to put it in their food they just lick it right off my finger. I had one morning early on where Oliver had loose stool, but it was not diarhea just soft stool. Hershey was fine. From that point on no issues and their bowel movements were perfectly normal and regular. On Monday they began getting 1/8 tsp at breakfast and 1/8 tsp at suppertime. Hershey had a soft stool Tuesday afternoon, but nothing like that since and Oliver has been fine. So it is going really well. Have not really noticed any difference in Oliver's coat yet, but it is way to early for that. i think I will keep it at this amount now for at least a month. I may keep it at this amount indefinitely. If anyone has any suggestions about the amount I should be giving them as a final goal please let me know what you think. I would be interested in any feedback from you if you are using coconut oil for skin and coat conditioning and what your results are.

Started Rocky on it two weeks ago and am using approx the same amount. (He is 13 lbs) Stools have been fine but as you said, way to early for skin/coat results.

He loves it too and licks it off my finger.

Hi Glen, glad the plumbing situation in your house is good too. Our Oliver is 16 lbs and Hershey is 11 lbs. Do you have any idea as to how long it takes to see a difference in their coats?

No, I have no idea. Our groomer recommended we use it for Rocky's skin. Not sure how long it takes to see results. His digestion was good anyway but it does seems to have softened stools virtually right away. We'll see.

You know Glen, it might be all in my head, but I don't think so, this morning when I was petting Ollie, I swear his coat felt ever so slightly softer and not as brittle as it was. Nothing anyone would really notice as a big difference, but there is a definite beginning of a change. Just a slight softening of texture.
