In June we will be driving 9 hours to pick up our puppy and a litter mate for a friend. Driving because we plan on visiting family and friends on the way. We have options for the trip home and want to do what's best for the puppies. We can pick them up and drive straight home making the necessary stops getting us home late at night or drive halfway and stay overnight somewhere to break up the trip. That would get us home earlier in the day so we and the other family have more time that day with the puppies. Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I think either way could work, but if it were me, I'd just want to get HOME!!! Also, you're going to have your hands full keeping two tiny puppies occupied in a hotel room, as well as keeping them from having accidents. When I think about it more, especially since there are two to keep each other company and give each other security on the long trip, I think I'd do it in one day.

We took Pixel and a friend's puppy to the national specialty in Chicago when they were both 6 months old. We used a single crate for them, which gave them a little room to play as well as to sleep. The trip to Chicago from Boston is too long for US to do in one day, but the pups were in the car for about 12 hours the first day, with a shorter day the second day. They had no trouble at all, playing and fooling around with each other in the crate. I think the (3!!!) older dogs minded the long days in the car more! Obviously we stopped every 3 hours or so for potty breaks. They all knew how to drink from water bottles, and their was a bottle on each crates, so they were all set that way. With the younger puppies, you will also have to stop and offer them meals.

Yup the faster we can get home the better! I was thinking the trip with two to keep each other company would be better. Thanks for your input. I'm counting the days! She'll be our first Hav.
