Arrow Blowing coat, and color change??

I haven't been on the forum for a few weeks because we are in the middle of moving right now but I wanted to ask this. Any of you that have a black or mostly black hav, is it normal for their hair in the summer to turn chocolate from the sun?? Or is Fergus losing his black and turning chocolate because he is full on losing his puppy hair right now?? I have noticed more and more chocolate all over his body, some of his siblings in his litter were chocolates, but his pigment on his nose is black. He does have a lighter eye color. Anyone who could shed some light on this? Thanks in advance!!

jenn, izzy,fergus and harry too!

Could he just be lightening in color or silvering out? You should take some pics (we get to see more cute pics this way as well!) At the same time, I know a lot of darker dogs can have sun bleaching as well. Dasher is mainly black and spends a fair amount of time outdoors but doesn't have any color change.

Thinking of adding a Neezer, check out this thread!

Its almost too consistent all over his body to be sun bleaching. I will try to take some pics of it. Its really noticable in the parting of his hair.

Yeah, if it is all over and you really see it when you part the hairs, then it sounds more like color change. Did his parents silver? When I was adding Dash, Kathy said he wouldn't change color and she was right on. But after meeting his relatives, they kept very black as well. He didn't change at all. Dora totally changed color and even at age 5, she is getting a new color in a new area. I wiped down her back and then later bathed her and just realized she is changing color in a white area that is coming in a caramel color. It just happesn to be near her rear-lol!

Yes, his mom had a lot of silver in her now that I think about it. You never know what color you will end up with with these pups Well instead of my little ink spot I guess he'll be my little dark chocolate

Our Black cat goes chocolate in the summer!
It is so strange how and why these Havs really change and keep changing colour, does anyone know why they are born with such distinctive colours that generally fade out?

MiG is changing too. This photo was taken maybe 6 weeks ago. He's starting to turn lighter, especially in the face. His body has a reddish tinge.
Mom is a black and white pied and dad is a chocolate pied, so I have no idea what he'll end up looking like.

Beth, Pixie Puff and MiG too

Thank you! I'm sure had I kept his coat long he would've sun-bleached the tips all over this year instead of just the red 'stache.
