I give my guys kongs or treat balls.
They have fun with them but I don't know if it would work during thunderstorms.

Sally,((Oliver)) Comet and Pennie too!

Well, I am home all day and we are in a really hot and humid period right now. It is just horrible outside!! I have not taken Whimsy out as much as I would like too. So, we play in the house. I throw the ball or some of her toys and she runs around like crazy. She chews on her kong..we play ball.... she eats... we practice our basic commands. She gets tired and sleeps and then we start all over again! LOL I'm looking forward to fall!!I could use some of that rain you are having if you care to send some my way!!

Throw toys around and encourage them to RLH around the house!
That's what we do.

I have been doing all that was suggested above but I mean how long can you do those things. I feel bad all they do is sleep and lately only been eating once a day due to the humidity we have been experiencing hence the thunderstorms. These thunderstorms do nothing to cure the humidity in the air. Once they are done the humidity returns.

If they have to potty, then we go outside even if it is raining. If your dog is ok during the thunderstorm, then do some training with sits, stays, waits, find it, place....any reinforcement of commands are always helpful.

If you are out of "in the house" activities, are there other indoor things you can do? Take a trip to the pet store? Indoor dog park? (The indoor dog park is a LIFESAVER during the winter! Do you have one down that way?)
Otherwise, all the above are great inside options. Good luck!

Unfortunately not here in Windsor. This is a small city. It would be an idea but our population here is only 215,000. But you can take him to the pet store but then you feel tempted to buy things you really don't need.

My dogs love going for car rides. They get really excited when they realize they're coming along so they use a lot of energy jumping and running around before they have to stop and put their leashes on. There's just something about going for a car ride that seems to satisfy their boredom.
