We picked up Scarlett last Friday. Never having met a Havanese in person before I was amazed at how tiny she is! I still look at her every day and think she's a fake dog :D She has been wonderful so far...no whining in her crate, prefers to go outside instead of pee pads but still uses them when necessary, never gets up at night, loves to eat. So much fun! I do feel like a new mom though...I need naps! She makes me laugh all the time. The only problem we're having is that she can fit through the gate bars. We put cardboard through them but as of today she can climb over it. It's not very high. Wants to sneak in the other room for cat food. Trying to come up with a safe solution. Ex pen take up a lot of room in my kitchen. I'm sure we'll figure it out.

There was a thread recently about puppies climbing out of their pens. Maybe you'll be able to find it, or maybe someone will provide the link . . .

We're happy to hear how things are going with Scarlett. She is indeed adorable! Keep posting photos!

She is adorable!

Re going thru gates, Cassie also slipped thru her first gate...shocking me when I turned around and discovered she was right behind me. I put temp wire thru bottom and then went hunting for gate with narrow enough slats to contain a little Havi puppy! Richell makes a beautiful wooden gate with narrow slats, but she chewed on it. There is a thread on gates with narrow slates..there is one that works which is sold as both a baby gate and a pet gate..identical, but baby was slightly cheaper. Dreambaby is the name for baby gates. It stopped escaping and swings both ways.

Pixel could walk right through our baby gates for a couple of months. We cut Plexiglas panels to fit each section, then zip tied them in place.
