Update

It's been awhile! Life has been quite busy recently. I have been doing quite a bit of training, both with the boys and with other dogs, we are moving into a new home in August, and I have been working extra hours. Lots of chaos, and lots of updates.

Nino has his first agility trial on July 16th, which is also my birthday. His weaves were the last thing we had to get before he could compete, and we have been consistently doing 12 closed from all kinds of crazy entry angles, so we are ready. He is running just one day of both Standard and Jumpers, and I'm hoping to enter him in two days of a 3 day trial two weeks after. Of course, I am hoping for 2 Qs out of it, but won't go in with any expectations. He is mote than capable (he runs open courses clean every class), but it will be his very first time running on turf. He has only had 8 months of formal training...VERY proud of my Nov A dog!! I will be uploading an onslaught of YouTube videos in the next couple days, so be on the lookout for those. He is SPEEDY and it brings me such joy to see how happy he is doing his thing.

Mario turned 10 the other day and got a huge haircut. He is still spry (though he will always be curmudgeonly) and slowly accepting the fact that we aren't getting rid of Nino any time soon. He is in great health, though I do see signs of aging in his daily life...especially when it comes to hesitancy to jump on beds. He is on his second session of nosework and LOVES it...we introduced his first odor, birch, just last week.

And now another update...the search for #3 has begun. I have a breeder selected, I have a dam chosen...and now we wait. Saying prayers for a nice show (and hopefully breeding) prospect girl. Fingers crossed! Nino, who is no longer showing, will be neutered around the time the new puppy is 6 months. Dealing with him around bitches in season for a couple days is more than enough for me

Sophie, Mario, and Nino.

Thanks for the update, Sophie! Can't WAIT to hear how you and Nino do at the trial. I'm SO glad to hear that you have reasonable expectations. The most important thing is that Nino (and YOU!) have FUN!!! Q's are icing on the cake!

SOOOO exciting that you are planning on adding a little girl to the household. I think you will find that a young bitch is a very different critter from "the boys"! Wonderful and fun, but different!

I've been waffling back and forth on spaying Panda too. I've never put her back in the conformation ring... not because she wouldn't do well, because I think she could. But because its not where my heart lies, which is in the performance events. Half the time, I feel like her being in heat just takes 3 weeks/six months where it interferes with competitions, and , honestly, training, because the girls DO get moody and "moony". Why? Then people will tell me what a really excellent bitch she is, and it's something you can't un-do, and I waffle. I talked to my vet, who strongly believes that a bitch should be at least two before she is spayed anyway. So I'e decided to go on with all her health testing, as if she was going to be used for breeding, and put off the decision until at least after her next heat in Aug. She'll be two mid-Oct., and if anything came up in any of her heath clearances, that would make my decision for me. (how awful is that to (at least SLIGHTLY) hope that she didn't pass all her breeding health clearances! LOL!!!

Thanks for the update! Am looking forward to seeing the videos. Love the photos. Did your friend with the golden take them? Please PM me with details about upcoming local trials and more info about the move! (Forum friends, KarMar has been living right by my work which is an hour from my home, so Shama has gone to Nino's ALL DAY to play twice. Hope KarMar and the boys aren't moving too far from where they are now . . .)

Not worthy of an entire thread, so I found my latest update thread...

Very exciting things in the works for #3. Plans have changed a bit to say the least. Once things are a bit more set in stone, I will give a full rundown of what's happening.
