Watermark software?

Do I need to buy special software for this or does anyone know of safe freeware to use?

Hey Christy,
it's a standard thing in word processing program. My sis works for the evil empire so I have MS word... here's what the 'help' screen said when I typed in 'watermark'... if this is what you mean:

Learn about watermarks and backgrounds
Watermarks are text or pictures that appear behind document text. They often add interest or identify the document status, such as marking a document as a Draft. You can see watermarks in Print Layout view and Full Screen Reading view or in a printed document.

You can add text watermarks, such as Draft or Confidential, to your document. Microsoft Office Word 2007 provides galleries of ready-made watermarks, or you can create your own custom watermark, such as a company logo. Or you can add a background color or picture to your document.

What do you want to do?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Learn about watermarks and backgrounds
Add a watermark or a background
Turn a picture into a watermark or background
Add a watermark only to selected pages
Change a watermark or a background
Remove a watermark or a background

With a Mac, you don't need watermark software. In Preview, you can use the "Annotate" tool to place text over the image.

Alternatively, if you work on a PC or a Mac, you can upload your images to Photobucket.com and put watermarking on your images there. To show your photos on the forum, you can either post using the link, or drag the watermarked image to your desktop and upload it to the forum from there. HTH!

a notice of copywrite is a better protection. I posted the how to already in another post. But all you have to do is add an c enclosed by a circle and the date. Then you have two years to file the necessary paperwork with the US Copywrite office. Then you have a legal claim attached to your work.

I know in the snail mail world all you had to do was mail yourself a copy of what you were copywriting...I wonder if the same applies to e-mail. Probably not actually, as the USPS is a federal agency and e-mails are just that.

Thank you. I found something in the 'puter in Microsoft and tried messing with it last night but couldn't figure it out. I guess I just won't be posting any pictures until I can work through this mess.

If you hit the question mark or the 'paperclip'... I typed in create a watermark and it gave me these choices, these are online instructions or videos, from microsoft help:

2007 But the way I understand it--probably wrongly lol, is that the watermark goes UNDER the document. THAT doesn't work on a picture because I can't see it! How do I design a watermark and then position it OVER the photo?

Photoshop, MS Paint, MS Word, etc etc etc
basically any program you can edit a photograph in you can put a "watermark" which is nothing more than text made partially transparent instead of opaque
