Have you tried this for flea control?

There is a biological control for fleas, it works for years and is completely
safe. They now have many varieties that cover various geographical areas.

Try this company, they seem to carry it all.
Arbico-organics.com and look under Beneficial nematodes.

Be sure and go to the website and THEN click on Beneficial nematodes, then look under the geographical area you live in.

If you have tried this, please let me know your thoughts. It sounds good..
but would appreciate feedback.

I believe Leslie uses them in her yard for flea control.

Everyone has always wondered why we never have flies in our barn. Many years ago I sprinkled some form of the Beneficial nematodes for flies in my barn. Over the years I would have thought they would have diminished or died off but many years counting we still have almost no flies in our barn. Our vet and farrier can not believe we don’t do something special to kill the flies. We do nothing so I believe it is those little organism we put out many years ago still living in the barn.

I am hearing wonderful stories about the flea control using this method in all parts of the country, it surely is safer and they are shipped in something that is put on the lawn then watered and then they become alive, I understand. Is this the brand you used then Sandy? Thanks for the input..Flynn

Yes, we use them and swear by them!

Sandi~ I bet the ones you put down years ago are what's responsible for your lack of flies. We first applied beneficial nematodes to our yard about 4 yrs. ago and although we saw no signs of fleas, just to be safe after having a wetter than normal year, we decided to apply them again this spring. I don't use any type of chemical flea/tick repellant on Tori at all and she's never, ever had a single flea on her to my knowledge. Whenever we're going places where fleas could be (parks, other folks yards, etc.) I always spray ACV on her. Again, no chemicals, no fleas

I believe that too Leslie. The instructions say to apply every year but our barn is dry, I sprinkled them everywhere not just in the stalls but next to the walls, everywhere and remember ordering twice the number needed because the flies were awful that year. Like I said we almost never see a fly in our barn, or on the horses in their stalls.

Welllll, after reading about nematodes and having the best intentions, I ordered some. The day I got them, I was busy, so I followed the directions and put them in the fridge. I found them about 2 mos later, way in the back, behind a jar of applesauce. I was so mad I didn't order them again.

It's weird, but wehad a BIG flea problem at the beginning of the summer and now they seem to be gone. No fleas for over a month now. We did spray the yard with something from Biospot.

I would be very interested in trying this method of flea prevention. We haven't had a problem with fleas on Abby since we started using Comfortis a couple of summers ago but I just hate putting "poison" inside my baby. I would much prefer something natural.

Sandi, that is a great example of how well it works since flies can be a really big problem around horses!

Exactly, I agree I would much prefer to use something else, not toxic things on or in the dogs and cats. I am so excited over this product I sent it to all my family and friends.

Leslie, what dilution do you use of the ACV? And do you just spray lightly over her, do you lift the hair and spray into the hair near the skin, or ? I haven't used a flea product on Augie. Knock on wood - we haven't had a flea problem in the yard. I think we have been lucky we haven't picked up any so far.
