Larger Dogs and Havanese

We own a Pit Bull which is a banned breed in Ontario. We acquired her before the law came into effect so she is grandfathered in. Totally licenced and all. Here are some pictures of her with our puppies. Dont worry no puppies were ever hurt inspite of their persistance in trying to get the bone.

Yes no doubt about the meaning of her body language! But the puppies are not afraid of her and continue getting her bones even licking her teeth as if to say Ya! Ya! Sure! Sure! Auntie Bronx we know you dont mean it!!

I love the picture where it looks like the puppy is telling her a secret into her ear. -Cheryl-

You know your own pit, so I'm guessing you must feel confident that she won't correct them. I am not that brave.

I've gotta ask, don't you worry that a correction from her would be SO much harsher than a Havanese adult's, just by sheer jaw strength and size? It's one thing to be grabbed by Hav mom/dad, it's another to be grabbed by an Amazon-female with bulging head muscles.

She is lovely though. My sister had a black/white one that was an absolute doll.

The puppies are adorable!

I'm guessing your Pit is well socialized with puppies. Well socialized dog always make exceptions for puppies....they may growl and correct but will not harm. My Lhasa "Psycho killer" loves all puppies no matter the size and tries to attack large adult dogs (it has followed his blindness PRA at three) our other nick name for him is "Little Death Wish" still he loves...loves puppies of any type. Not all Pits are killers.... and it is unfortunate that they fell into the hands of people who bred them to fight. I had a neighbor in CA about 12 years ago who paid a ransom of 10,000 to get her champion back. In CA the shelters at that time did not adopt them out and it was so scary for her. That dog was so gentle.

I would be scared of this combination myself....the photos of your pit showing teeth and red eyes is just frightening! Of course you know your pit bull, but they can turn --even on their owners. Occasionally I have to care for a couple of pit bulls at my work and one has a split personality I swear! She is such a mixed bag....my son's associate is good friends with this family who owns that pit bull and has been around her often with no issues. I was talking to her one day and telling about her (the female pit) and we discovered it was the same dog. Anyway--she told me this dog attacked her and she required stitches...come to find out she was talking and petting the dog and it just snapped and attacked her. For me--I don't think all pit bulls are bad...I think they get a bad rap in some cases, but it is also a very unpredictable breed.

Well the camera makes red eyes and I left them in for effect. Those pictures were taken a year ago. Bronx has never bite corrected any of our dogs/puppies. She is trying to teach them manners. Some havanese mothers have corrected to the point of baby running away crying. Bronx plays tug of war with the little ones and is so gentle that they actually have a chance. They all love her. The new moms let her into the nest on day 2.
