Surviving the Hurricane
Tux and family fled Naples, Florida to seek refuge in an Atlanta hotel that harbored dogs along with their humans. I must give a huge shout out to Loew's Atlanta for their kindness and hospitality. They normally allow dogs, but this time was extreme. They have 400 plus units, and at the peak of the storm there were 245 dogs residing in the hotel. Dog lovers are wonderful people and consequently we had a great time visiting with just about every dog breed known to man. Tux was the favorite of the concierge who brought an entire bag of treats just for him. (Tux displayed all of his tricks which won his heart). Everyone could eat in the lounge areas with our puppies beside us and every dog was on their best behavior.
Tux arrived at the hotel on the first day, shy and leery of strangers carrying big bags and over-friendly dogs, some of which were HUGE. Ever seen a Leonberger? Tux has! Tux left with us a week later yesterday, a more confident and happy puppy, who was no longer afraid.
To all of you who were caught in either hurricane, I hope for you a quick recovery. It's never easy and certainly not fun to endure the ravages that mother nature can wreak, but there is eventually sunlight at the end, and sometimes even good things like the kindness of strangers is all you may need to get through.
