Help SA is rearing it's ugly head again!

oh, i don't know what to do. we were on a roll with DJango, nipping the peeing in the house when left behind. we were pee free for 6 months. we just returned from a trip, gone for 8 days, django was left with the dog sitter who is amazing. came home and he's peeing in the kitchen again when we leave him. he peed when the dog sitter left him for a few hours as well. what would have caused this to start up again? we haven't changed anything. any tips?

He is mad at you for leaving him. They are little devils aren't they.
Read my post on the subject.

i don't think it's anger, i think he's stressed we won't come back. i am setting up the video camera tonight when we go out to dinner to see what's going on. the wierd thing is when i return home, his pillows are across the room, he's managed to open the bathroom door. it's like a battle zone.

I don't think he's angry, I think the vacation probably just triggered the SA and he is now worried again that you aren't coming home. I dealt with a similar regression into SA with Gucci after our 5 day cruise in '08, and she was left in wonderful hands, a retired couple that doted on her and pampered her more than I do..but she was still really upset when I'd have to go out for a few months afterwards.

The good news is, she did settle back down to her usual sitting at the window and watching for me patiently w/o any 'accidents'..the nerves effect their system, happens to some of us human types, too

It will just take a few days, maybe weeks for him to get back on track and forget how much he missed you and get back to his usual schedule w/ you all home.

well i set up the video camera. he slept the entire time except when he had to go into the kitchen to pee. he was quiet and happy. maybe it's the prednisone the dog sitter gave him 5 days sooner then he needed it. he was low on energy etc. and we agreed he needed a dose to perk him up while we were gone. well, he was happy while gone so maybe he's a tad stressed and things will stabilize in the next few days

Aw, poor baby. It's a break in his routine. I read once that every time we go out they think we'll never come back, though I don't quite believe that. It has to be scary for them though when everything they know is turned upside down. I'm sure he'll be back to normal soon.
