Have you tried front pack?

Do any of you have a pet carrier like this?

Shama would not allow us to put her in it when she was little, but we just tried it again today, and she tolerated it.

Am wondering if is at all comfortable for her and how long we would be able to keep her in it before she'd need a break . . .

Attached is a photo of Shama in the pack with me, a photo of her with pack on her back, and a photo of her happy to be done with the ordeal (at top of stairs while DH and I are down the hall in our office; she doesn't need to be with us at all times).

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts on this carrier . . .

Kodi would break my back. The girls MIGHT tolerate it, but all my guys have been encouraged to walk on their own 4 legs (or often 2, in Panda's case ) since they were puppies. I never wanted them to get in those "pocket pooch" habits. As adults, they ALL prefer walking to being carried, though they tolerate being carried when necessary without any trouble.

I had a denim one for Zoe and have a blurry picture of her in it on my iPad. She whined while bound. I needed something to safely take her for walks while Kozmo was on his leash and she was too under immunized to let down on the roadside.

They say never to wear a woman's likeness on a shirt or purse if she is prettier than you. Shama's hu-mamma is a pretty young woman, so she is fine with beautiful dog worn next to face, but for me...

I have this one

for Perry. I agree with Karen - Perry walks most of the time, I just got the carry one for when we're out on walks and need to go inside somewhere where they might not like him walking (I was surprised the last time we were in the US, when I had to run into starbucks or a store quickly I kept waiting for them to tell me that I couldn't bring him in... but all they said was 'awww, how cute' ) OR for places that are very crowded and I'm afraid he'll get stepped on (our farmer's market here if I go later in the morning). It says that it's for 10lbs or less, but he fits fine (he's around 11-11 1/2). I did put a strap across the body of it so that I can make it more secure because when I shift it if I'm not careful he can partially come out and I knot the carry strap because it does slide, but I like it better than the last one we had because this one has a longer strap (with the other one I felt like I was carrying him right under my arm pit).

I got one very similar if not the same as Melissa's for when Henry first came home for many of the same reasons. But especially so I could take him places where there are a lot of dogs while he's not fully immunized. (last shot next week, Yay!) He's grown from 4.6 lbs to 7.5 lbs and I haven't used it in a few weeks so I'm not sure how comfortable he'd be now. He tolerated it surprisingly well. And he looked darn cute in it though with his little head and red ears popping out. Several people told me they thought I was carrying a stuffed animal around until they saw his head move.
And it does seem like bringing your dog places is a lot more acceptable in the US in just the past few years.

Like Karen's Kodi, Ricky is a big boy. Momi certainly couldn't carry him very far in a back pack and it is not the "look" I am after, if I were to carry him on my back. No, Ricky is an explorer and his walks on four paws give him GREAT pleasure. I want his brain and senses stimulated and let him mark his territory when he feels compelled, to fulfill his destiny. When we are in a hurry, or in a crowded or potentially unsafe place, I put him in a tight heel and he is glued to my side and I feel he is safer than on my back.

LOVE the picture of Shama and Mama. You two could win a beauty pageant, but this isn't a contest you know! Some posters have been brave enough to post a picture of themselves and their "alter-egos." It is fun to put faces and first names with screen names. Hmmmmmmm............let me see if I can work up the courage in the next couple of days!

Marni, that got a big "guffaw" out of me!!!!!! I wish HF had more response buttons beside "like" - maybe "funny", "love", "agree", "useful", and "helpful" - like on other fora. I would give Marni's post THREE FUNNIES!" Marni, I'll post a close up of me and Momi if you will!

You have no bargaining chips, Ricki's Popi. Your fit self and lovely bride are pictured under the thread, "my dog's favorite chew toys"
That posting gave me nice belly laugh.

I really don't and have now posted a picture of Zoe looking like she is doing a guest appearance on The Andy Griffiths Show, as riding in a pack on Aunt Bea's uniboob.

This pack also had her bottom legs hanging out, which she windmilled as if looking for solid earth. Really wish there was more of her in that pic.

Now we have hijacked Shama's post. Fortunately, Shama's momma is a Zoe fan.
