AB164 Has been pulled!

YES!! Yippee!! I just read on another Havanese list that I belong too~~~AB164 has been pulled!

They just announced this on TV this morning. In Levin's words It has been pulled. He will try to bring it back next year. And our goal is to defeat it again, again, and again. As many times as it takes.

Hooray!

Katie,

The bill has been pulled for good (or until next year)?? Not just pulled to be voted on later in the day like he did at the Assembly? That's GREAT news. More time to get the word out because we all know he won't give up on it, nor will PETA let him give up on it!

Just read on the list that is not been pulled.

Could have been a trick.

What I read is he says he is going to pull it tomorrow, that he plans to let the talks go through today and pull it first thing tomorrow. Hopefully its not a trick, I cant imagine him surviving going back on his word.

Great news for you Californians....

"Pulled" means he is taking it back for revisions. He plans to resubmit it in January. I would have loved to hear that it was withdrawn, but no such luck. This is just another stall tactic, but this bill is very much alive.

Casparkeep, look at my post above your question. It just means it is on hold for a few months. Levine plans to bring it back after he does some revisions.

ok I knew I wasn't daft. WTF is AB164? I tried looking it up on google and on the board and came up with squat..except for some bill that disallows non-custodial parents to get access to their childrens school records.

For the life of me I can't see why PETA would be interested in that.

Clarification please... Maybe an edit to the initial post??

It is a bill that has passed through the California State Assembly and was being heard today in the Senate, where there is an attempt to require spay & neutering of all pets in California. It is said that it is backed by PETA, who want to end all pet ownership.

Frankly, I was surprised it made it as far as it did as fast as it did. The author pulled it today in hopes to edit it once again (this thing has more edits than my attempt to draw a Havanese!).

If you do find it online, don't be fooled by the edits that are listed so far. It says it has provisions for breeders, but the way the bill is written so far, it would still be completely illegal in my area and many others to have an in tact dog/bitch. The fees where it is "legal" would be $500 per dog per year.
