I want an adult, but not a rescue...

Mojo needs a buddy at home, and another puppy right now is out of the question for several reasons. What I want is an older dog, any age, but not a rescue. I can't have a dog with issues right now, either.

Do breeders ever have adults that they need to re-home, either retired from breeding or pups that never sold?

Any ideas?

They absolutely do. We've heard about a number of them here in the past. You might want to get in touch with a number of breeders you either know or have heard good things about and let them know of your interest. They might have an older dog or might know another breeder who does.

Good luck in your search.

Hello!
contact Katie, "moptophavanese.com" she has an amazing 1 yr old Hav named Justice... we met her and played with her for quite awhile, we would have gotten her, except we wanted a puppy to start with because we have cats and didn't want to chance getting an older puppy that may or may not be good with cats.
anywho, Justice is an amazing, female Havanese, and I believe she is still available, Katie is on this forum... hope that helps!

My dog Misty is 3 and came from a breeder. She was suppose to be a brood bitch but, she is small and her puppies were large. She has had all of the health testing and I signed a contract to keep up with some of the testing (eyes). I actually looked at 20 breeders and I know there are a few breeders who have dogs to rehome. You will still fill out a puppy questionare and they will want to check your vet, maybe friends, another breeder and they are not throw aways so they do have a dollar cost. I really liked some of the dogs that some of the forum members had esp the more West. Here in NC we have Big Thunderstorms!!!! I am from the west not a lot of this. Here in the South I really needed to go out and see!!!!! Remember many of these dogs have lived in the family and the breeder is thinking they should be spoiled in a limited dog home where they can get extra attention. Also even if a dog does not get choosen a breeder is set up to keep it until the right home comes along or not. That being said we love out girl!!!

Robbie, Boo Boo, Yogi, and Misty's human.
Poohkey miss you, monkey.

I got Bacca at a year and a half. He was a retired breeder and show dog. He came from Florida and fit right into my house perfectly. I for various reasons did not want a puppy. I have 2 burmese cats and he has become best friends with Mickey and Mary Lou stares him down hoping if she stares hard enough he will go back to Florida. The breeder in Florida that Bacca came from has an older puppy on Her site now. I highly reccommend Yuppy Puppy. Janet is very good in gauging whether a dog will fit in your household.

Yes- I also am looking for an adult dog since my Hav is 7.5 years old. I drove 3.5 hours (one way) to go to a breeders house to meet a few adult dogs she needs to rehome. Also, contact your local Havanese club- they have been wonderful getting me in touch with breeders that don't have websites.

Thanks, I p.m.'d Katie at MopTop and emailed Yuppy Puppy. If anyone knows of any other breeders who might have a dog, let me know. I also need a big Hav, because the dog will have to be able to play with a Great Dane puppy for a while. Not in my house, but at Mojo's sister's house.

Agreed! Both of my Fluffs came from Janet. They were both pups, we had considered an adult but fell in love with Stella, she was 3.5 months when we got her.

The "older" dog she has is 4 months, which may be a little young for you, though.
