Loki in the herb garden

It was nice weather here this weekend. I was baking cookies and opened the back door because the house was hot from the oven. Loki was wandering in and out. At some point, I realized I hadn’t seen him in awhile. I found him sound asleep in the sun on top of the herb garden. He was filthy but happy.

OMG that picture is hilarious, it is a where's Walo type picture lol. He is so cute. I'm glad he is enjoying himself and nothing is wrong.

It just occurred to me why he is wanting to just sit outside. I looked at the first photo and he is in the sun. Dogs instinctively know they need real sunshine directly on their bodies. 17 years ago my Akita (long haired) would ask to go outside even though the temps were in the high 80's or 90's. She would lie down in the sun and pant from the heat. About that time, my sister's boxer up north was having some kind of issue requiring a vet visit. Turned out the dog never was able to be in direct sunlight. The vet suggested a change and that was the cure.

I think you are on to something, my Apollo used to follow the sun inside during the day. I used to call him my furry sundial. He’d start out in the guest room window seat and move to the sunroom off of our kitchen then the the loft area above our foyer. I of course bought beds for each of those locations lol.
