New here :)

Hi I am new here and new to the breed! I just adopted a 2.5 year old male who has been the best dog ever! I am currently looking to add another to our family and have seen some online for sale and some local to where I live. I have never purchased a dog online and kinda scared to do it to be honest..lol

I am here to learn about Havanese from people who have them not just what I can read in a book!

I live in NC

Hello and Welcome!! Congrats on your new furchild! what's his name?? pictures!??

I am new around the board, new to dogs AND new to Havanese also! This board has been invaluable in helping me learn how to take care of my girl, and what is "normal" behavior for a Hav!
How long have you had your Hav?
We got Tillie about a month ago from a breeder nearly 9 hrs from my home in N. California! She was well worth the trip though! I would caution you to be very careful about purchasing a dog online, do all you can to find a breeder near-ish you so you can go visit and they can meet you. It's important to match the dogs personality to your family and not just go on looks or size... I know there are several gals here on the forum from NC also, hopefully they chime in soon!
Look forward to getting to know you and your doggie!!

Hi and welcome to the forum! You'll find a ton of great information here and people that will be able to answer your questions.

I would be careful about buying a dog online-you'll find information on questions you should ask a breeder (testing they should do, health guarantee, etc) to make sure you are dealing with a good one. You can search for topics using Search feature on the menu bar.

Good Luck searching for your new addition and we would love to see pictures of your 2 1/2 year old!

Welcome! I wouldn't recommend buying a dog online. I would however recommend e-mailing your local Havanese Club and ask them to recommend breeders (you can find them at www.havanese.org).
Good luck! I am also looking to add to my family, but I am learning to be VERY patient finding a sister or brother for my little guy. I have been looking for a month now (I even drove 3.5 hours each way on Sunday to look at dogs!
You will get a lot of help and guidance here

Hi and welcome to the group. We love pictures here, so when you can, you might want to have us oohing and aahing over your little boy. I have to agree, buying a dog online or anywhere other than from a reputable breeder is walking right into the lion's den. You don't know what you're getting if you don't know whether the breeder tests the parents and breeds only to better the breed, and worse case scenario you could accidentally being adding to the misery of the puppymill dogs, forced to spend their lives in a cage.

There are many wonderful breeders out there and you'll no doubt be hearing all about them when the members from your area chime in. Happy to have you with us.

I will post pics soon of him. He is cut very short right now as the people I "adopted" him from cut all his hair off so I am waiting on it to grow back!

Thanks for putting the online thing out there for me just to read over again..lol
I just found a super cute one online and you are all right I have no idea what conditions this dog lives in etc....
I have had my Havanese for 2 weeks and he is the best little dog I have ever had! I just cannot wait for his hair to get longer..

I may wait until the spring to add another to our family once he settles in and gets to know us better... unless one finds me before then
Look forward to getting to know all of you better!

Glad you have joined us and we are looking forward to "seeing" your little boy! We like to see "before" and "after" pictures, too! I guess he was matted pretty bad and needed to be shaved but hair grows.

If you are looking for a slightly older dog you might check with Havanese Rescue when you are ready for another.

The popcorn: I think it means they want to see pictures - like at the movies? I'm still learning these things, too!!!
