Do your dogs just sit outside in the bushes?

Loki has decided he mostly wants to be outside. He goes out and just sits in herb gardens, liarope, or other plants. I went out to get him and he was shivering. It is about 40 here so I am not really worried about the temperature. I asked if he wanted breakfast - we wagged his tail and ran inside. I just think itís weird that he is just sitting there. Should I be worried?

My Tucker does that if there is a sound inside that scares him. Like, the smoke detector beeping. Or a cell phone beeping with a low battery. Or... Once my mom watched him, a few years ago, and he refused to come inside for her, she had to go out and carry him back in. After two days of that she went to the basement form laundry and found the smoke detector battery was low and it would beep every few minutes. She fixed that and he would go inside again.

I can't really think of any reason why Loki would do that other than what Sheri posted in her reply. Does he seem fearful when he is inside? Was furniture rearranged or any other changes that might be upsetting? Maybe he's afraid of Christmas decorations if you have some up.

Pixel likes to just sit on the top step of the back deck and survey her domain. Panda occasionally joins her, but not as often. Kodi ALWAYS wants to be where his people are. He goes out to do his business, but unless we are outside with him, he comes right back in.

It is the shaking part that makes me wonder most if Loki thought something unpleasant was going on.

i think the most unpleasant thing for him is that I have been preoccupied with Christmas and not focused directly on him. He mostly does it when I have been cooking or wrapping or something else. He comes and sits in my lap as soon as I sit for a minute. He might of just been bored...

I can't explain for Loki, but I can say that KC loves to be outside any chance that he gets. He even takes his dear old time prancing around tonight in the snow and looking all around before peeing and it is -3 with a wind chill even lower! When he is in the house, he has to be right with me or my husband, but he will stay outside by himself if we allow it.

You might consider smells as well. I bought some scent sticks that you could put on fake greenery to make it smell more like pine. I started getting headaches whenever I sat near the tree, but would lose the pain when I went outside. Tux never acted as if he was bothered by it, but normally he likes to sleep under the tree, and I noticed that he tried it once, and moved away from it. I got rid of the scent sticks, needless to say. Dogs are more sensitive to smells, and maybe that could be it.

I liked your photo because Loki is so cute. I hope you figure out what this phase is about. Shama hasn't ever done that.

Loretta, cute photo of you and KC.
