[QUOTE=ma2bella;358317]Only with men does she do this. She will chew on their arm hairs, especially DH. It is that little nipping chewing action. She will chew up and down his arm until we make her stop. We were laughing until our stomachs hurt last night watching her.
Does anyone else have a hav that does this? Any idea why?[/QUOTE
This sounds like a displacement behavior. Generally these behaviors are behaviors that are out of context. Example , you are training your dog and right in the middle of it they sit and lick their genitals or they yawn. They can be self directed or redirected. They generally indicate an uncomfortable feeling with the current situation. Although your dog may seem comfortable to a degree with these men, she still might be unsure of the situation. Lots of dogs have an aversity to men LOL. And that may have something to do with it. I would not punish it in any way. I would also not encourage it. It can lead to an obsessive type thing. What you want to do is distract her and get her to offer a different behavior. Funny about the timing of your post. I was just thinking of doing a post on this topic. Stay tuned , it will be called Displacement Behavior. People do this too.
