Red face Food dehydrator

I am determined to not spend another dime on training treats. I just ordered a small dehydrator from Amazon. Can't wait until it gets here on Wednesday.

We use a dehydrator for sweet potatoes and my dogs love them, heck I will eat them too. Yummy

I have a friend who got one in a yard sale. We trade off using it to dry bunches of treats.

My mom absolutely loves hers. She makes sweet potato and liver treats for her girls.

Childhood flashback- I had completely forgotten, my parents had one and made banana chips and apple chips, among other things. I think it was built from a kit, because I remember it was electric but the exterior case was painted and wooden. I知 going to have to think about doing it myself - the dehydrators on Amazon look pretty interesting.

I have not found it overly helpful for training treats, because it's hard to get the consistency right. (small, soft, not requiring much chewing) I do use it for things like sweet potato chips, which we tend to hand out as "We love you" treats.

Update

So...first I tried ground round in the tube. In retrospect, I probably should have chosen the flat nozzle grin2:

They loved it! It was soft enough to break into tiny pieces for training. They did anything I asked to get some and stalked me, offering all known behaviors. But I got tired of Hubby asking me if I was SURE it wasn't poop LOL

Next, I did sliced beef liver:

Harder to break into pieces but loved also.

My husband agrees with your husband! He says it does look like poop 💩. We laughed and laughed so hard, but if the dogs will do anything for it, what the heck! Keep us posted on more recipes. I致e got my eye on a dehydrator on Amazon, just waiting for your test kitchen to perfect things
