Exclamation Vomiting :(

Hello everyone...

Ok so my dogs diet consist of Solid gold wee bit and white meat chicken. He will not eat the solid gold alone so we cook for him as well. Well this week we didnt have any chicken at home so just left out the solid gold on Thursday and he did not eat it. Then, on Friday again he did not eat only a few bits here and there. On saturday, he didn't eat at all and threw up yellow bile On saturday evening we were able to get out and get him chicken so we did and mixed his food again and he gladly ate it all up. Then, today we made his chicken again with the solid gold and he threw up AGAIN...This was hours after his food but he was gagging and I heard from my room and saw a small pile of vomit.

I am so panicky and hate to see him like this. He has had a problem with vomiting when he was younger but it went away when one vet told us to put him on a bland diet for a week of rice and cottage cheese. Should I add rice again?

Also, he wasn't lethargic today and looked forward to going to a walk and playing. Now he is just sleeping at my feet.

I am going to keep an eye on him and phone the vet tomorrow. Does anyone have any recommendations onto what I should do for him tonight? Thanks All!

I probably would not give him much food. Maybe just a third of what you would normally give him. Just a little rice and chicken. If he seems okay after a hour or so, give him another third. Make sure he has plenty of water. Call the vet in the morning.

I had a dog who would throw up bile if he got really really hungry. We couldn't sleep in late or he would do it. Then he would gulp his food and barf it up because he ate too fast. We had to feed him within a certain time frame every day.

TTFN,
Pam

Thank you...I am giving him water and he is drinking normally now he just wants to rest. I will definitely call the vet. My family disappoves of me going to the vet because I literally take him for every problem and have spent lots of money. He is my first pet and I am always so worried. Thanks for your reply

When dogs get empty stomachs they sometimes spit up bile (it is yellow), dogs like Shih Tzu's and Lhasa's do this if you don't give them something (a treat is fine) every few hours or give them nothing for many. You probably need to pace him and give small bits through out the day and remember some dogs will eat until their tummys are too full. You will get the hang of being a pet parent after a time. My vet thinks my dogs blink too many times and I'm there. HEHEHE not true.

Robbie, Boo Boo, Yogi, and Misty's human.
Poohkey miss you, monkey.

Push water.. as long as he's hydrated, he'll be okay til' he gets to the vet in the morning.

It could be many things, a sensitivity to a food, or even antibiotics in the chicken (try organic chicken and rice) or something in the kibble. If you go organic chicken and white rice, that might help.

I'm sorry he's sick..its no fun having a sick pup

hugs~

I am a little worried about the vet. He was on meds for a tummy problem last week and we were suppose to stop them this weekend. This is when the vomiting started. I'm a bit worried the vet will put him on meds again. He's been on all these meds and he's so young I feel like his stomach can't handle it all. Ahhh very scary.
