Checking In!

Time for a check in!

Boys are both doing well. Mario is no longer taking nosework classes as I had too much on my plate with agility and had to prioritize. The effect it had on him was immense, but we never planned on competing. I have a kit and the game is still played by both dogs at home.

Nino came out of retirement for one day of a show and went RWD. Showed beautifully, just looked a bit pathetic next to the huge puppy that took winners that had to be wicketed later in the show He's gotten another standard Q since my last agility update and has had a few days of "so close" runs. Just one Q needed to get up to excellent in both standard and jumpers. Today he had a vet appointment. Clean bill of health, and the vet was incredibly impressed with just how sturdy his knees were. Yay! Bodes well for OFA testing in the spring.

Few recent photos of Nino, along with agility videos. Mario is camera shy

The dog was measured in the ring to ensure he was within standard. If the dog is within standard, there is no issue...but a wicket in the 6-9 month class doesn't provide the sunniest outlook on staying in standard.
Sheri, krandall and ShamaMama like this.

He looks awesome, Sophie! He’s growing up to be a beautiful young man! Most of Panda’s teating is done... hips and elbows next month!

I'm waiting until our local repro hospital's annual clinic with the Golden Retriever club...SUPER cheap testing I do feel like I can rest easy, though. Patellas were my biggest worry, and they don't seem to be going anywhere soon

Do they do xrays clinic-style? We have clinics for heart, CERF and even BAER, (though many breeders BAER test the entire litter) but you have to arrange xrays on your own. ...And, of course, patellas can be checked by any vet. I know elbows aren’t required, but I figured I might as well, since she’ll be there anyway.

Interesting, though, I was talking to my vet about elbows, and she said you won’t see elbow issues in a dog with a straight front.
