Looks like you have a real good lap warmer! We have had a mild winter here in the Pacific NW up until this past week or so. Friday and Saturday we got almost a foot of snow which is a lot for us. Poor Willow. She does not like the snow. My husband shoveled off an area for her to poo and pee. Then our neighbor plowed our driveway so now she has a pretty good area to use. It's warmed up quite a bit now and we have had some rain. The snow gets really crusty and firm during the night since the temperature drops to freezing so now Willow can walk on top of the snow. I'm glad we finally got some snow but I'm ready for spring too! The daffodils are coming up and things are starting to bud out. Won't be long.

Willow looks like a lovable...pretty little dainty girl. I love that! KC is lovable, curious (mischievous), vocal, and loves to run and plow through the snow with his nose! He comes on with his entire face covered in snow and “snowballs” literally hanging off every part of his body. I keep towels by the door to use to dust him off. As soon as I take a seat to read, etc., he takes a flying leap into my lap . I love him, but really do not like smelling like wet dog.

This weekend was rough for us. Because of the snow, I had a difficult time pottying Nino at our trial (he could lift his leg and go on the 5 foot piles, but there was no chance he would be able to climb them to poo). Because of that, he fouled in the ring on one of his runs :O Yesterday it took me 40 minutes just to get out of the driveway and we had to miss our first run because of it. We get to be the lucky corner house that has all of the plow buildup dumped on it.

We have a 5x5 spot shoveled out at the base of our deck stairs, and the boys have been able to make do. No one in our family is happy, but the sunny, melty weather today is MUCH preferred.

We'll probably have snow week after next. Right now, our horses are grazing on green Bermuda grass in the pastures. Normally, Bermuda grass doesn't wake up here until the end of April. When I went out to take the picture, the horses thought I was coming out to give them grain, so they went around to the barn entrance, and missed the photo op.

At least you can see that the pasture is green. Bermuda grass is dormant in Winter, and turns brown. It only turns green when the soil is warm.

Poor boy, you KNOW how desperate they are for that to happen. But it’s happened to me too. Poor Kodi, our first time competing in formal obedience, he tied for first place, and we had to do a run-off. I didn’t even know what a run-off WAS!!! They called me back in the ring, and I didn’t know that I could say “no”, and I didn’t know I could tell them my dog needed to potty. So we went in, he got to the back of the ring while heeling, and just squatted and peed. About 8 gallons. If I’d only known I could have just said, “Fine! We’re happy with second!” and not gone in again at all. I’m MUCH better at advocating dor my dog now!

But I’d have the same problem with Kodi under those circumstances... he won’t potty on pavement, and if he can’t get up on the snow...

Poor Nino! We feel for him!

Years ago I was watching the Westminster dog show and saw one of the dogs come out with the handler and just at the beginning of it being run around the arena, it squatted and pooped all over the place. Loose poop too. The handler looked so embarrassed. First and only time I've ever seen that during the Westminster show.

And in conformation, though no one wants it to happen, it is not held against the dog or handler.
