In and out

And no, I'm not talking about the Burger Joint!

Snickers has learned that I'm easily trainable. When she scratches at the patio door she knows I'll stop what I'm doing and let her out. 20 - 30 times a day. HUMMMMMMM there has to be an easier way.

Pet door! So I've been shopping. We really don't have any wall space where we could install a wall door - we'd have to get a sliding patio door insert. Our Patio door is 1.5 " wide and Vinyl (not the aluminum type) so we'd obviously like to get one that keeps the decor the same. And I'm finding that they are kinda pricey..

A couple of questions then -- Has anyone used the "Ideal VIP Patio Panel" pet door (Model 78VIP150M)? Can you recommend it?
And, do your neezeers use a pet door?

Tillie rings the bell... 20 times a day... sometimes! LOL
I don't have any advice to give, my husband does NOT want a doggie door and Tillie is trained really well to go potty outside, and I am VERY thankful for the freezing weather, Tillie only rings the bell when she HAS to go potty... spring time will be another matter though... LOL besides, what else do I have to do all day besides let her in and out 800 times?

Jim, I think that looks very nice.

I bought a wall-door from that company and am very happy with it. The only problem is with Tucker, himself... he'll use it to get back inside the house, but won't go out without me calling/sending him out. I raised him too well to not go out a door before I do, ha!

The cat loves it, though!

Jack does the same thing....Dexter use to ..... They trained me well....Well, I am FINALLY catching on!

If Jack has peed/pooed within 30 minutes, I will take him out one more time and watch his behavior to see if he is going toward something, smelling something or looking for something.

And....I will make sure we have already gone for a walk earlier, and if they are no diarrhea issues...I will call Jack and tell him to WAIT and make the WAITS longer and longer before getting up to take him outside.

And....I have also tried calling Jack and telling me DOWN. He loses interest eventually after several tries with the door and goes off to do something else or goes to sleep.

You will get your exercise!

My son was just discussing this subject yesterday. He said his boxer pup rings his bells about every 20 minutes. And about the time he's had enough and says "No, you are not going out AGAIN!", his puppy will squat on the floor. My brother who has a doggy door for his St. Bernard, strongly recommended him getting a doggy door, as he loves having one. But Trey also hasn't got a good place to install one, and also would have the expense of fencing off an area. It would be a really wonderful option! Yogi loves to cry at the door to get out there to chipmunk hunt. I would think they'd be hybernating by now! Good luck with the door! I hope you get it figured out....

Daisy and Beau ring their bell to go out also. If I know they went recently - and they're chasing each other around the house - I KNOW they don't have to "go". They just want to chase each I let them out if its convenient for me. If not, I tell them, "Not now. You have to wait. Later, not now."

I don't tell them "NO" because I use that word when they're doing something I want them to never do... I'm afraid they'll think I don't want them to ring the bell. They know "you have to wait" because I use that when they're pestering for dinner before its time etc...
