The "Look"

Last night we dined at an outdoor pizza place. Tux was lying obediently by my chair. Food is delivered, and then we hear all the people around us saying, "Awwwwwwww.....aren't you going to feed him?" I look down and Tux is doing his best "sit-up" routine in spite of the fact that he had just eaten his dinner before we left.

We went to an outdoor Sunday breakfast this morning and we got the same "look" from Tux. He knows we don't feed from the table, but one never knows when mom or dad might "forget". We need nerves of steel to stay on course with these little guys.

that's so cute.
Are they OK with him in the seating area? Or does he have a service dog tag?
Just, wondering, so many different rules in different restaurants/places.

Naples Florida is one of the most dog friendly places on earth. Not only can Tux sit in his own chair, but they bring him his own bowl of water. Almost any restaurant with outdoor seating (which is most in Naples) invites dogs. Even the shops nearby keep water bowls outside their entrances. You can walk down the main street (It's called 5th Ave., and dogs are everywhere......well behaved always). Even the farmer's market is dog friendly and everyone lets their pups socialize with a sniff and a whiff. A good majority are smaller breeds, and we occasionally happen upon a few Havanese.

Dogs are not allowed at our farmer's market. Naples sounds like a fun place!

I don't think we've EVER been to a restaurant with outdoor seating that had a problem with our dogs. We often use the stroller in such situations, either if seating is tight, or if there is food on the ground that we don't want them to get into. But sometimes they sit with us.

We usually limit "dining privileges to one at a time, though... Even with 3 very well behaved dogs, THAT'S a little much for us!!!

Almost every town in New England has a farmer's market in the summer, and I've never seen one where dogs weren't allowed. Now, _I_ sometimes have trouble with owner-behavior at the farmers' markets... LOTS of dogs on flexis, being allowed to roam at will while the owner pays no attention. The dogs either trip unwary humans or wrap themselves around other peoples dogs.

We have a LOT of trouble in general with friendly dogs on flexis, with stupid humans on the other end.

I'll bet Tux is quite the sensation when he dines al fresco.

as an aside, outdoor dining seems like some kind of alternate universe at the moment. It's 12F with 2 feet of snow on the ground here. Down to -1F tonight. This is turning into one looooooong winter.
