Havs and Christmas trees...any advice?

My wife and I were just talking about what to do with our Christmas tree this year. We're not sure how Ruf will react to it. She's going to keep the Lenox ornaments off it this year, I know that much. We were talking about getting a smaller tree and puting it up on our coffee table.

Any advice on keeping our tree upright and decorated this year.

We put ours in the corner- with the couch blocking one side and we put a small x-pen across the front. That way they CANT mess with it!! Or the presents underneith for that matter!

Do not use tinsel! No bows on presents! Havs like paper!

Abby has shown no interest whatsoever! But, we had two poodle pups years ago that pulled down the Christmas tree! I just try to keep the more tempting ornaments on the higher branches.

We have our tree stand mounted on a large piece of plywood, that gets covered with the tree skirt. We put our more breakable ornaments toward the top.

This will be our first Christmas with our hav, and I am envisioning her in RLH mode diving under the tree (much like she does with the bird cages!) I can see paper wrapped presents being a problem...

I'm more worried about Julian and the tree, so we are not putting any of the ornaments from the 1940's and 50's that belong to my Mom on the tree. I never had a problem with the tree and the dogs.

That's definitely something to think about too with Mig's first Christmas. I saw on HGTV that you should secure the breakable ornaments with florist wire so that if the tree is bumped, they won't fall off.

Hello, I am new and this is my first post. Just wanted to say that we put our tree up Saturday and our 8 month old Lizzie has pretty much ignored it. The cats lay under it, though. Great hiding spot!
