Best thing we've found in a long time

Or at least, the best thing that Pam has found.

Brushing teeth with coconut oil. Pam tried it this morning, and they all absolutely love it!! Birdi kept asking to have her teeth brushed again.

This is not the unflavored kind.

Interesting. I use it as a night lotion on my face and hands. Tux loves the stuff. (organic of course)

Interesting! What kind did Pam use if it was flavored?

Trader Joe's organic virgin. In what looks like a pint sized Mason jar. I doubt brand matters much. They like any of it we've given them. This was just what Pam used on their teeth. They line up for it now.

I use coconut oil with Jasper and he loves it, too. It has antibacterial properties, which is not only good for the teeth and mouth but the digestive system as well. Even we humans can use it in an "oil pull" putting it on your floss, and even eating a teaspoon a day. Do some research. You'll be amazed.

Wow, thanks for the tip. I don't think I do a very good job on Willow's teeth. She'll only tolerate brushing for a short period of time. Maybe I should try the coconut oil.

According to this article . . .

PawCulture

. . .

Dr. Karen Becker recommends 1/4 teaspoon per every 10 pounds of body weight. Every dog is different and itís appropriate to adjust the amount for what works best for your dog. Keep in mind that too much of a yummy thing isnít good for humans or dogs, so itís best to be conservative when adding coconut oil to your dogís diet.

We're going to give this a try too. Thanks for the tip!

I use coconut oil, baking soda with a drop of peppermint oil to brush the pups teeth some of the time. It does a good job and the pups seem to like it.

Just wondering.......Doggie toothpaste supposedly contains an enzyme that is supposed to help control plaque and tartar. If one uses coconut oil instead, I'm wondering if you run any risk by not getting the enzyme contained in the toothpaste.
