Do you tip the groomer?

My pups are just 3 months old so we have not been to the groomer yet. I am planning on taking them soon to just get them used to it. Do you tip the groomer? If so how much?

If I love it and Lily has some matts, or she finished her in a decent amount of time, 20% with a bonus given at the holidays. That how much I tip my hairdresser (if not more) so I think groomers deserve the same. I tend to overtip though after working many jobs in the service industry myself.

I groom my own dogs. If i took them to a groomer, I would absolutely tip

We tip 15-20%. I know it's not fun to groom the squirm worm!

With my current groomer who has her own mobile grooming business who comes to the house and the charge is $175 -- usually for three-four hours (3 dogs), I have not been tipping. Before her, I had another groomer for 20 years (who moved away) who came to the house and was quite a bit cheaper -- I always tipped her.

I think a tip is a big part of the groomer's income...like a waitress. I almost always pay by credit card and the lady who takes the money--also the owner--always reminds me. It bothered me at first because the if I didn't want to tip I was embarrassed. But now I welcome the reminder because it's just like me to forget.
