Hav's with Wood??

Is there a type of wood that a hav can safely chew on or would this just get them used to chewing on the furniture? I thought about this because I love Wood and I was thinking about what Hav's like to chew on "secretly" when we leave them alone for a day. I know that sometimes we might think they like to chew on certain toys we leave them and then six months later we find a favourite peice of furniture chewed on in a place we never noticed and how do you scold a Hav for something like that right.....

I can See Radar chewing on the coffee table one of these days because the legs are nice and thinck and it's "there" for him to explore. I would imagine when he's in full "teathing mode" he may develop some bad habits if he hasn't already. Does anyone out there have any funny little stories to tell about what they "found" later on after a Hav chewing frenzy, y'know like Jaws.....

both my boys between 6-8 months had a real taste for fine french doors Jasper knawed at my two back doors one in the living room- one in the sun room--- and cash completed the job by taking care of the front door in the sun room (they are left in the sun room and kitchen when we are gone) Cash also decided that the console in the sun room was pretty tasty. Once the damage was done we sprayed everything with bitter apple. it seems to have stopped them for now... It's a good thing they are soooo cute... good luck with radar....

Oh ....Cash also likes to knaw on tree bark, mulch, rose bushes (ouch) and his favorite is pulling up roots... I should by stock in bitter apple!!!!

Mine have never chewed on my cabinets, chairs, or any wood. They will pick up twigs and chew. However, Shelby is the chewer and she loves slippers and flip-flops. We just have to make sure they are out of her reach.

My Sedona chewed coffee table legs as a puppy. It still bears the scars, although the young woman we gave the table to is going to paint the legs. I'm very grateful Sedona chose the cheap coffee table and not the antique spinning wheel or butter churn.
McKenna preferred stucco and chewed the stucco around the patio sliding door. Luckily for her we are going to replace it with a french door one of these days. In the meantime we used chicken wire fencing to cover it so she wouldn't bring the whole house down.....goofy animals!!

Ahh yes~ Mine seem to take a liking to the wood moulding along the floor in the corners that stick out! Grrrrrr~ Also, one of my kitchen cabinets has beautiful chew marks on the corner~ and I lost 2 pair of black sandals this summer when Havana got on top of a crate and jumped over the 36 inch x-pen in my room! (yes, she is worse than her mother!)

Gucci doesnt' like wood unless it is a large twig from outside, but she only likes to bring those in the house to annoy me. lol

She does prefer to chew on walls. When I get my camera back, I'll take a picture of what she's done to the wall under my sewing desk. Eeks.

I hope Smarty never decides she likes to chew on interior wood!!!!!!!! I would have a fit if she chewed on most of my furniture or any trim. That is the reason she has a dozen different kinds of chews all over the house.

As a puppy, Lincoln had a penchant for wood molding (base and window both!) and did a number on the rungs of my kitchen island stools.

He also once chewed a snout-sized hold in the drywall in the family room...

Luckily he's outgrown this habit.....

My Emma loves to chew wood. She has chewed the wood trim on the corner of the hallway and kitchen, the end cabinet in the kitchen, the legs on two fairly new dining room chairs, and any twig that happens in the yard. She also likes to chew dads expensive plastic shoe inserts .
Oscar is a fanatic about tree bark. We burn wood in the winter and he loves to find pieces of bark and make mulch all over the family room floor.
We have a giant basket of toys, but wood is the favorite.
