Cirque Harnesses ... an Alternative to Puppia, for Canadians

Thanks to everyone who posted their enthusiasm for Puppia harnesses.

I was really keen to get one (or more!) for Chica but couldn't find any here.

Then I found the RC Pets brand (which seems to be modeled after Puppia) at my local pet store. I got the Cirque style, which is designed especially for toys.

The manufacturer is in Vancouver (just a ferry ride away) ... and I love supporting local businesses.

I got Chica the XXS -- for puppies under 4 lb with a 10 - 13" girth.

She'll be sporting the teal colour.

Talking Snow? What snow?!

Nah! We're in a temperate Rain Forest.

A lot of years we don't get a single snowflake.

But we did have snow a few weeks ago, and apparently this will be one of the winters where we all have to learn to drive in the white stuff again.

As for the harness, we are really liking it already. It's going to make leash training a lot easier and safer.

Took her for her first ride around the neighbourhood in the new booster seat and harness. A little whimpering at first, but then she settled down. Hope she comes to love the car rides, because I'm really looking forward to being able to take her lots of places. (And show her off!)

OK, my sister in law was here last month from Langley and she goes there, I think it's the place where you are. Yeah just start with short rides and slowly increase ,that's the best approach. It's good to be cautious with cars. Once they get car sickness , it's hard to get rid of the problem.

We picked up Chica in Langley, but we're over in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast.

We've done a few 5 minute drives into the Village, just to do some socializing. One trip was to the Vet last Monday. We wanted her to meet him during a happy, quiet time ... before the 12-week shots next Monday.

She threw up a couple of times during the long trip from the breeders' to our place two weeks ago, but during the little trips since, she's been fine.

The first time she saw the new booster seat, on Friday, I had it on the floor in the living room. She ran right inside it, then hopped out, grabbed a soft toy, and snuggled back in.

Some days I wish I had the video camera going non-stop.

sounds like she's doing pretty good though. Yeah, get her lots of socialization. Avoid an dogs you think might not be friendly. Glad she handled the last couple of trips OK. Keep us posted.
