TrishK, how is Sammy!?

Hello Trish!

I've been thinking about you and your new pup and wondering how everyone is doing!? We've love to hear and SEE how Sammy is settling into his new home! Do you have a lot of snow? Has Sammy gone out to play in it!?
Hope everything is going smoothly!!

Hiya Tillie's Mom
Thanks for asking. Yes, he has settled in quite nicely, almost like he's always been here. We do have lots of snow and Sammy sure doesn't like getting his feet cold...he walks around on three paws lol. Unfortunately, with the winds its been super cold so we haven't gotten to do many 'real' walks as I would like, but he doesn't seem to mind. He totally follows us around everywhere we go, which is very cute and always wants to be picked up and held, which is so sweet. He's such a good little boy letting us know when he needs to go out and he's very quiet. He actually totally surprised me the other day when my ex stopped by and Sammy barked when he came in, but settled really quickly once he saw everything was in order. I bought Sammy some antler to chew today. The fellow at the pet supply store said it is better than giving rawhide. So far he hasn't chewed on it yet though. He's starting to learn to play. He has a stuffy that we play with him with and try to get him to "go get it". It squeaks and he's started to pick it up in his mouth and shake it, which is a big improvement over just looking at it and walking away. He's learning to sit for treats too, although sometimes he has to be told umpteen times before he will do it. I think he may just be testing our resolve on the matter lol. He's starting to let me brush him without trying to eat the comb or my fingers although one time he did growl at me and snap and I used the Cesar Milan method of pushing him down with my fingers on the back of his neck and he seemed to totally get it and let me brush him after that with no qualms. He also doesn't like having his bum cleaned, but seems to be fighting me less since once I'm done I tell him how good he is and he gets a liver treat. I guess that's about it...I'm sure I could write you an entire novel though despite only having him two weeks lol, but basically I'm sooooo glad we found him, and I can't even begin to describe the difference in my Billy's demeanor. He's a pic...I think I posted it already, but just in case...

That is just the sweetest picture, Trish! I'm so glad Billy loves him so much. When our son was a teenager he sometimes wouldn't talk to us but he always talked to the dogs!

What a cute picture. It's really great to hear how Sammy is doing. I bet it feels like he's always been there, sometimes its like that. I always use the treats as a reward after brushing, if there are mats they get extra and they know it! Love hearing about your boy.
