Help!

Butterscotch swallowed this chocolate a couple of minutes ago and I don't know if I should act on it. It is about an inch long and the inside is filled with cream. We stupidly left the chocolate box on the low coffee table and well I was getting a drink she took one. Please HELP! here are some pics of the chocolate and the inside of it:

It doesn't look like that much chocolate since it's hollow and it appears to be milk chocolate. I would think she'd be okay, but if she were mine, I'd call poison control just to sleep well. She might get the runs.

How is she this morning? Any upset tummy?

Here is my chocolate and pets story. Once upon a time, back when we first got married, we adopted 2 adorable animals from the shelter - Mickey, a cat, and Rocky, a tiny Rottie mix. These two loved each other and worked together as an evil team.

One day, I made brownies and carefully set them way back on the counter to let them cool. We went out. We came back to the sight of a shattered pyrex pan, no brownies, blood from where Rocky cut his tongue, and 2 guilty-looking beasties. I spent the next day feeding an entire loaf of Wonder bread to Rocky to make sure if he did swallow glass, the bread would encapsulate it. sigh....

Since then I don't worry too much if the animals snag a small morsel of chocolate. If they get a big chunk, I offset it with a slice of bread.

TTFN,
Pam

She is doing good and seems to have no trouble. She didn't throw up but she did wake us up in the middle of the night. She has a grooming appointment at 1:30 but if she's sick I can cancel. Thanks!

I'm glad Butterscotch is okay this morning. That is a scary feeling when you find they've consumed something that could be dangerous!

Glad to hear she is ok. It is so scary when they ingest things they should not. I always use the hydrogen peroxide to make them throw up when they get into things - which is not too often thankfully!

I've had this scare before, no fun..

the purer the chocolate, the more expensive the chocolate, the more dangerous it is... dark chocolate is worse than milk, because it has more cacao beans in it.

A friend of ours brought over SEVEN of those candy cane things filled with hersheys' kisses and I have caught gucci trying to get into one the other day, they are surely drawn to it. Even her, the pickiest eater ever would eat through leather to get to chocolate, lol

I'd still be careful with the smaller dogs, they don't need as much for it to hurt them.

My neighbor has a weimerheimer (sp?) and a lab mix and that dog ate a whole plastic pumpkin halloween thingy full for halloween candy and lived, she had diarrhea for a week, but everyone was really surprised she didn't die
