Deer Antlers

I went to a dog store the other day and the person there talked me into getting deer antlers for my hav to chew on. She told me that she has a shiztzu and he loves them. I did buy it but it seems really really hard. She said that it could be boiled to make it softer if I wanted. I didn't want to give it to her until I spoke with someone on the forum who had some advice for me.

I'm not sure what advice I can offer, but the fellow at Global also told me about antlers and I did get Sammy a small one. He's not much of a chewer in general I've found, but he has started gnawing away on the antler. Yes, it is very hard so it's not really getting worn down at all. Apparently it is loaded with calcium.

Deer antlers are fine, lots of the "bone people" love them. Biggest thing with any bone or chewy is to always monitor and dispose when they get too small.

Abby is not a big chewer and usually spends a couple of minutes a day chewing on a nylabone chew bone. She got a Pearly White for Christmas and so far it is still all there - she loves throwing it around, though!

I hear you Kathie, I think dogs like the more smelly chews. Molly never touches her nylabone but loves her bullies. P.S. Sorry I missed your party. I waited all day for Trish to pick me up but she never came.

Well, Dave, we waited 'til one and went ahead and ate all the leftovers ourselves! Leftovers - all gone!

Ya, that's it, blame me. That's okay, I can take it. And Dave, wouldn't you have just freaked if I'd actually simply shown up at your door? If you were closer I would have done it too, just to see the look on your face when you opened the door.
It really is too bad that we are all so far away from each other. I would definitely love to get together for tea and playdates.
