Getting a urine sample from a Havanese!

Our vet wanted a urine sample, more of an optional nature rather than essential. I have done one for a golden retriever, but the space between the ground and flow was ample..not so with my fuzzy little Havanese. .she barely clears the grass. After exploring my kitchen for something I could use, I found a plastic cover for a can with a little piece of plastic on one end I could use to hold it. It was almost flat with little edges that would hold the liquid, I hoped, from spilling out. With family members watching from a safe distance, trying not to laugh, I edged closer to her and when she squatted, I slipped it under her tail...and got myself a good ounce or two of fine yellow liquid. Thought I would share my “technique”in case anyone else needs to do it. (Results were fine, no issues.)

I've had to do it a time or two also. I've found that a flattish ladle works very well. You can maneuver it under the dog without getting your hand under there!
