It is not easy to find a Havanese puppy

I have been searching for a Havanese puppy. This is a new experience for me. I have called many of the breeders in my State. I am finding that either there are no pups available now, or the next litter is months away, or if there is a litter but they have all been reserved, sometimes even sight unseen. I cannot adopt a dog without seeing the dog. But to see a dog means traveling quite a bit and very often by the time I am able to travel to another part of the State or even out of State that dog has been sold. I am finding this process of finding a dog almost impossible, very frustrating, time consuming, and impractical. I've looked on the AKC website, and at any one time there really aren't a lot of dogs available. There are only maybe 4-5 pups in a litter and there seem to be more people looking for dogs than there are breeders to supply the dogs.

You need to find a breeder who you think you can trust and work with. Then get on a waiting list and wait for the puppies to be born. You never have to take a puppy that is not right for you, but this is THE best way to find a quality Havanese pet puppy. The fact is that this ISa popular breed, and the best breeders do have waiting lists. But do you really want to run out and buy a puppy mill puppy? You can certainly find a puppy mill Havanese puppy faster, but you take a big chance in the health, temperament and early training of a puppy from such a source. Is that worth getting a puppy faster or more conveniently? A Havanese puppy can be a 15 or more year investment. IMO, it’s worth taking your time to get the right puppy.
