No, do NOT trust any of the internet companies not to repackage old medicine, I'm paranoid about it. This came to me in another email list, I'm removing the names though, not sure if they are members here or not,

The story preceding this is about how her dog was diagnosed with heartworms and they had never missed a dose

Quote:
A FEW IMPORTANT LESSONS I HAVE LEARNED FROM ALL OF THIS!!!

1. Always buy your Heart Guard, or whatever you use, from your vet. Some of the on line sellers have been sued for repackaging out dated drugs & selling them. We used to get ours from Entirely Pets & will NEVER do that again.

2. Heart Guard will cover the $1,000.00 plus treatments, only if you purchased your Heart Guard from your licensed vet!!!

3. The Snap test, that can be done in your vet's office, can allow a dog with heart worms to have a negative test result. This can cost you your dog's life.

4. Don't get the idea that your vet is just trying to make money by running the yearly heart worm test. It's the only way to catch the heat worms, before they kill your dog.

I thought you all might be interesting in learning from our heart aches. I pray no other dog we know and love, ever has to go through what _____ will have to go through to get rid of these horrid parasites. I also asked about just letting the worms die off. The cardiologist said that _____ could suffer irreparable damage to his heart, lungs and liver. The only time this is an option is when the pet parents can't pay for the treatment & have no choice

I love Gucci's star! I don't buy heartworm or other meds from mail order. I do by frontline from petsRX. Even though I use heartworm I still have the vet check once a year. My neighbor is getting heartworm shots for her dog that last 6 months, I don't know much about it, however since she was always forgetting this was a safer choice for her.

I don't use any pesticide monthly flea, tick, or heartworm preventative, but I do buy Clover's allergy medications from Fosters and Smith

They were $1.10 per pill from either vet I use, and $0.65 per pill from the pharmacy. For a medication he takes every 1-2 days, the cost difference is just enormous.

I did keep a few of the vet's pills to compare to the pharmacy's, just to be a bit paranoid, but it's been over a year and no issues.

People in the dog show world know me as Karen, but the rest of the world knows me & I will introduce myself as Kat... I've been showing dogs longer than I've had the nickname, and the nickname is not new!

I find the meds cheaper online, then my vet does a price match. A lot of vets will do this, so it's worth asking!
