I like the PetMate Varikennel for hardsided crate. My 10lb. boy sleeps at night in a medium size. Plenty of room for him to stretch out and a nice dog bed.
He also has the small size one that he fits in and likes because of it's coziness but more than 10lb and it would be too small.
I have had the medium size one for over 15 years now and it is just like new. Very sturdy and well made. You can get them from Chewy among other places.

The problem with hard sided crates is they can be hot. I switched to wire because Patti would wake up panting at night. However, Now .... at night she starts out sleeping in our closet behind my clothes, advancing to our bed as the night wears on into the morning. During the day Patti likes the privacy of the closet behind my clothes.

I often carry my dog to the beach to play, and a retractable dog leash brings us more safety and happiness.
