Carseat

I was checking out the Lookout carseats based on information in another thread, and I'm confused. I see some carseats called Lookout, and others called Snoozer Lookout. They appear to be very similar (I'm looking at pictures on the internet, not in person). Are these the same thing, or are they made by different companies? It's hard to compare the on-line prices without knowing, and I want to make sure I get the one that folks here are recommending. Anyone know?

Hi,
I had started a thread on this topic and received a great feed back.

Here's that thread:

http://www.havaneseforum.com/showthread.php?t=1302

The two carseats you mentioned in your post, are made by two different companies. Snoozer was on sale on PetSmart or Petco last Sat.

Looking at the dimensions of the two, I decided that Look Out was better suited for my needs. I ordered oversized Look out carseat. Linda (ifung) has a picture of her furbabies in Snoozer carseats. She and Karen use Yap Wrap harness from QVC with the carseats. I ordered Yap wrap too.

Best,
Poornima

I believe the one I have is made by snoozer. I had thought they were the same, but I guess there could be other carseats called "lookout carseat". Linda and I have the smaller ones (they say up to 18 pounds), but a lot of people recommend the larger ones if you want your dog to have a little more space to lie down. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about it. I have used mine since Brady was a puppy and I have been happy with it.

All Lookout car seats are made by Snoozer (name of the company) that also makes pet beds and strollers.

Karen, do you think at 7lbs they can lay down in the one for up to 18lbs?

Do all of your dogs really STAY in the carseat? Gucci usually rides in my lap, or we prop the Sherpa bag in between the driver and passenger seat and she rides in that. I would love to get her to stay in a carseat, but I fear I'd just be throwing more $$ down the toilet. lol

Kara,
I would think that she would be able to spread out nicely in the one I have. Linda may be able to answer better. One of her havs is 6 pounds. Brady does not love being in the carseat, he would prefer to be in my lap, but that is not an option if we are going any further than a 5 minutes down the road. The seat has a strap that goes around the seatbelt and then hooks to your dogs harness. It is adjustable so you can make sure that they have enough room to move around, but not to get out. Brady will sometimes try to climb out, but he is held in by the strap and the harness. Then he lays his head over the side of the seat and gives me the sad face. He doesn't mind the carseat though, just would prefer me.

Mine would probably get the sad face too! But I think it would be nice for longer trips especially, and it can be distracting when she is trying to hop into the driver seat when my husband is driving. Not a big deal when we are just dropping of my son at the beach or something. But I really like the idea of a carseat.

My husband is disagreeing with me! lol, He says there is NO WAY she would go for it. *sigh* I just sent him the link.

Kara,
I am not sure if Petco or Petsmart have them in the stores, but I know one of the independent higher end pet store in my area has them in the store. Take a look the next time you are in a petstore and see if they have it. Then you could check it out in person and see what you think. My DH thought I was crazy too. He doesn't use it when he takes Brady places, but he never takes him too far. I had an accident a few months ago. Brady wasn't with me, but it made me think, what if he was? That is when I pulled the seat out and started using it again.

I sure will! I may get a stroller too, my husband just rolls his eyes at me these days.

my little guy sits in his car seat and loves it! it was getting too dangerous having him in my lap. i put his harness on, strap him into the car seat, he can look out the windows, curl up and nap, he loves it. it does take sometime to get them use to is but once they do, it's the best and safe for everyone. i bought my onlin thru a store called in the company of dogs.
