Happy First Birthday, Brookie!

For those of you, who remember Brookie's story, today is her guesstimate birthday. She was found wandering the streets of Brooklyn at 7 weeks with a broken leg. She was taken to the NYC pound where her leg was set with a cast that included a metal hook. When the poor baby walked, she sounded like Captain Hook. After we rescued her, she went through 2 other casts; the vet and orthopedic doc thought we might have to amputate her paw after all that since she had done so wellon three paws for so long. We knew better. Brookie as a fighter in many ways: sweet but incredibly tough. She attacked poor Milo many times. DH and I had many arguments during the first five months over her care. We brought her to a trainer and took Puppy101 several times. Today she is a happy puppy who runs like a maniac on all four paws. She still has agressive tendancies, but we know how to deal with them. We love her to death - Happy Birthday, Brookie!

It's hard to believe she's a year old already. What a wonderful story of survival and beating the odds. We love our little Brookie and send her hugs and kisses to celebrate her guesstimate birthday.

I remember Brooke and I also remember how heart broken you were when the vets said she might lose the leg. She is amazing and so are you for taking the time and trouble to give her the best of new beginnings. So happy to hear the rehab worked this is such great news. Happy Birthday Brookie!!!!

Happy Birthday Brook! I'm happy to hear that she is running around on all four legs, I remember her story. I know you probably had to make a lot of hard decisions in the last year and it sounds like you made all the right ones for her.
