Pixel Missing? (not really)

I got a call from my vet's office this morning. "We have someone on the other line who has Pixel!"

Momentary gasp of panic.

I look down and there is a little black furry face looking up at me, followed by a very waggy tail. "I don't think so, she's looking at me right now."

"Really? They called us using the number on her tag, and they described her!"

"Really, she's looking at me. Right now."

Turned out it was a rabies tag, same number, different year, small, black, fluffy dog named Pixel. How weird is that?

Oh, my goodness, my heart was in my throat for a moment!

How weird was that! I'm SO glad to know you saw her right away and didn't have to panic for long!!

I would have thought that rabies tags had individual numbers... apparently not?!

That is so crazy. How many little black fluffy dogs have the name Pixel, not many I am guessing. Glad it didn’t cause you any stress. I hope the other Pixel is microchipped and finds her family.

Me too! I had no idea they used the same numbers different years, obviously close together.

And thank heavens I was home! They called my cell, so I could have gotten the call anywhere. I would have been in a total panic if I hadn't been home! Did someone open a door and let her out? (the dogs are always gated in my office when I'm not home, so it would have to be done deliberately) HOW did she get into someone else's hands?!?! I would have been a total wreck until I got home and saw that she was safe. I probably would have driven straight up to the vet's office without thinking of checking at home, only to find out that it wasn't "my" Pixel to start with!

So glad you were home when you got the call! How scary it could have been.

“Heartstopping” is how I felt just reading your post. i would go crazy trying to figure out what happened to cause that call...glad you got a quick answer although it is so weird that a rabies tag with same number went to another little black dog.

Only cause MOMENTARY heart failure. It didn't last long. It DID make me go find the other two also, though, and made me hand out hugs all around.

I know, huh? I just love that picture. It's one that our sitter sent us one day.

I know! What are the odds! (and that's why I put (not really) in the title of the post. I didn't want to scare the rest of you!)
