Havanese Fanciers Club In Canada

I know there aren't a lot of Canadians on this forum but I have a gripe with our national club and have told them so. Below are the regulations to become a member... bear in mind there are exactly 2 members in my province and I know neither of them. My breeder won the first ever Canadian regional specialty and even she wouldn't qualify as a member. The rules seen so "old boys club" to me.

My complain is that the best of the best breeders should be listed members of a National breed club because potential purchasers should know about them. If any breeders here pretend they wanted to join would any qualify, I do not, meet only half of the requirements at best...a farce in my opinion to promote the breed. IMO the club lacks greatly in their mandate. Most every other breed has far less stipulations and way more membership. The reason I have my panties in a knot is that the club really has to make changes as selling the book Nose To Tail does nothing to promote the really good breeders. What's your take? I'm waiting to hear back from them.

That sounds pretty excessive to me! After all, Canada is a big country! It does seem like they are trying to make it pretty exclusive.

Hmmm.....IDK....I have a few friends who are part of the CKC and HFC....I wonder if they will pop in and answer your questions? I'll have to ask.

Is your breeder the one who won the HFC 2010? The dog being :
BIS MBISS AM GCH CAN CH Gingerbred Yukon Jack Desiderio known as Desi?

He is beautiful--

That would be great Julie. I'm really disappointed that it's so difficult to join the breed club.
The dog I am referring to is Hycrest The Games Wii Play...the photo isn't the best.

I have an update. Still painfully going to take a year to qualify for a membership but was contacted and supplied with contacts for possible sponsors. Looking forward to see what becomes of it. My biggest problem was with the statement..."Casual acquaintance is not adequate for sponsorship". Apparently with the internet and all casual has a new meaning and internet friends can be casual. Nice...
