Scout and Truffles had there appointment at the dentist for teeth cleanings yesterday. This was Scout's first time at the dentist because he has gone to our pet hospital in the past. Truffles was seen last year. I really feel they get exceptional care here even though it's an hour drive. The dentist called and kept us updated during their procedures. They were ready to go at 3:30 PM. We met with the dentist for an update. She showed us before and after cleaning pictures. It was really neat to see the 3-D x-rays of their head and mouth. Anyway...we found out Scout has very large teeth! She said his teeth were perfect, but there could be a problem if in the future he needed an extraction. The x-rays showed the roots are anchored into his jaw! If a tooth needed to be extracted it could possibly fracture the jaw. Poor Truffles had to have a front upper tooth extracted because of bone loss and the last upper molar. She has the opposite problem of Scout, very small mouth and teeth. She also did a biopsy of tissue between her teeth. It's probably just inflammation, but just to be sure it was done. Truffles has to go back in a month for a recheck. I'm giving her Meloxicam and Gapapentin for a few days. This hasn't affected her appetite!
